"The objectives are clearly defined: Bayern want to become the best team. They're doing that. We're hoping and aiming to become the second-best team. We've not yet achieved that," said Peter Stöger ahead of the trip to Munich, where his charges will square off with FC Bayern on Saturday. "We want to get something from the game," he said.

It will be Stöger's second trip to Munich since becoming BVB boss and the coach will be heading to Bavaria having already learned some lessons from that DFB Cup exit in December. Even though some other teams this season have succeeded in controlling Bayern's game by playing with a back three or a back five, the Austrian readily admits that his team "really didn't manage it" playing with a similar set-up in that Round of 16 tie. He continued: "The way we defended didn't work at all."

But BVB steadily grew into it as the match progressed and almost forced extra-time in a 2-1 defeat. Ahead of the repeat fixture in the Bundesliga, Stöger is calling on his charges to "play an active part in the game, have possession and break up their rhythm". (br)
