A dismayed André Schürrle was interviewed by BVBtotal! about the bitter defeat in Munich. "As Borussia Dortmund, you cannot go down like that. Even at FC Bayern," said the attacker, adding: "It was just a really rough evening. We'll be feeling it for a while longer."

André, a very bitter evening for all Black & Yellows. Can you find the right words so soon after the final whistle?
"It really, really hurts. Everyone has to take a hard look at themselves. I'm including myself there first and foremost, to analyse what has happened. As Borussia Dortmund, you cannot go down like that. Not even at FC Bayern. We wanted to have a go, but then we conceded goals really quickly. That really gets you down, and we couldn't find a way of somehow stemming the tide. We should have been much better and more compact in the first half. We should have tried more to keep things tight at the back too, so that we could just see how the game develops. We were too open. Everyone must work hard on themselves, so that something like this can never happen again."

By half-time you were already 5-0 down. At that stage, how do you even manage to pick yourselves up for the second half and try to make a fist of it?
"It's very difficult. I can only speak for myself. You sit in the changing room and so many questions are going through your head: What's up with me? What's happening here? Quite honestly, the energy was rock-bottom. And then you have to go back out against an opponent like that. We spoke among the team and tried to be more compact, to win the tackles at the back and to make sure that we didn't concede any more goals. We managed to do that to some extent, even if it made the match completely unattractive. It was just a very rough evening. We'll be feeling it for a while longer."

"We still have goals that we need to fight for"

So what can you do over the course of the coming days to banish that from your minds somehow. Because you still have some very important goals to achieve…
"We need to get cracking. Of course we'll be feeling it for a while longer, but we cannot tear ourselves apart. We need to stand together and work hard. We have over a week until the Stuttgart match. You're absolutely right: we still have goals that we need to fight for. We'll need a different energy, even in training. We'll need to show a different side to ourselves in the last six games, as there's still a lot to play for." (djg)
