Christian Pulisic's opener set Borussia Dortmund on the path to victory against VfB Stuttgart. It was only after his goal that BVB really got into the game. "We grew in self-confidence. That made the match much easier," said the US international – who now has four goals this season, a personal best for a single campaign – in an interview with BVBtotal!.

Christian, sometimes it's not such a bad thing when you don't quite strike the ball properly, is it?
"That's true, I didn't strike it perfectly. I actually "only" wanted to send it towards the back post. The fact that it went in is of course a bit of luck. Good for us!"

Beforehand it was a difficult match. What changed after that goal?
"Stuttgart played very well in the opening 30 minutes. After the goal we grew in self-confidence. That made the match a lot easier. We played significantly better after the goal."

It was your fourth goal of the season, you've never scored that many before. How much of a tailwind does that give you for the rest of the season?"
"Of course it was a very important goal for me. I always want to score goals. Next week I'll try to get the next one."

"Going there to win"

That's a good motto to have. You've not yet been on the winning side in a derby in your professional career. There have been a lot of draws. Just how much do you want that first one?
"Of course I really want to win the derby. I especially want to win this time after the 4-4 last time out. We're going there to win the match." (djg)
