452 Matches for Borussia Dortmund! 16 Years in black and yellow! An outstanding career at (almost just the) one club! At the end of this season Roman Weidenfeller will hang his gloves up. He will pull them on one last time though: on 7 September 2018, the goalkeeper will take his leave from the Bundesliga stage in his second home, the Signal Iduna Park.

Roman Weidenfeller is only the seventh player in Borussia Dortmund's history to be given a testimonial. Until now, this great honour had only been bestowed upon "Hoppy" Kurrat, "Manni" Burgsmüller, "Nobby" Dickel, Michael Zorc, Jürgen Kohler and Dede!

"I am really looking forward to celebrating the end of my career in this stadium, which has meant everything to me, with our fantastic supporters. I say goodbye after 16 years, during which there have been may highs, but also some lows", said the 37 year old World Cup winner of 2014: "We have experienced so much together, celebrated so much together, but also suffered so much together. It was an amazing time that gave form to my life. I will never forget it!"

Kick off for this special game, in which black and yellow legends and friends from Roman Weidenfeller's footballing career will compete against one another as "BVB Allstars" versus "Roman and friends", is on Friday 7 September 2018. Details regarding advanced sales will be published shortly.

Roman Weidenfeller transferred from 1. FC Kaiserslautern to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2002, having made his professional debut at his former club at the age of 20. To date, he has played in 452 competitive fixtures for BVB, with whom he won the German championship twice (2011 and 2012) as well as the DFB Cup (2012 and 2017). (br)
