On the last day of the 2017/18 season, third-placed BVB face a direct battle with fourth-placed TSG Hoffenheim, while fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen will be breathing down both their necks.

The top four will qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, while the fifth-placed side will make it into the UEFA Europa League group stages. Going into the final day, Borussia Dortmund remain in third with a three-point cushion over both Hoffenheim and Leverkusen.

If BVB win or draw in Hoffenheim...
...they will finish the season in third-place.

If BVB lose by a margin of one goal...
....they will remain in third place, as long as Leverkusen don't beat Hannover by a six-goal margin. Then Dortmund would be fourth.

If BVB lose by a margin of more than one goal...
...then they will finish fourth, as long as there isn't a seven-goal swing in Leverkusen's favour. In the event of a 2-0 loss for BVB and a 4-0 win for Bayer, Dortmund and Leverkusen would be level on points (55) and goal difference (+17), but BVB would finish above their rivals on goals scored.
