45 minutes against Westfalia Herne were followed by 45 minutes against DSC Wanne-Eickel: Thursday evening saw Borussia Dortmund attend a three-team tournament at the Mondpalast-Arena, where the spring sun was shining, to give the two clubs − especially Westfalia, who recently lost a significant chunk of income due to delays in the renovation of the Stadion am Schloß Strünkede − a financial boost.

Here are the highlights in brief. With Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and BVB legend Hans Tilkowski watching on, BVB recorded a 1-0 victory over Oberliga outfit Westfalia Herne in the "first half" thanks to a brave effort by Stefan Mütze from the corner of the box (32). Alexander Isak was twice denied by the woodwork (29/39) before later firing narrowly wide with a shot on the turn (43), while hosts Herne hit the post too (Kühn, 26).

In the "second half", there was another full 45 minutes of action. DSC Wanne-Eickel of the Westfalenliga had a chance to take the lead at the outset, but Reimann made an excellent save to thwart Dawid Ginczek in a one on one (12). In the minutes that followed, Marcel Schmelzer hit the woodwork and opened the scoring shortly afterwards (15). Isak, following a pass from Sahin (22), Gonzalo Castro (23) and Andrey Yarmolenko (25) extended the lead to 4-0, before Ginczek, whose handball escaped the referee's attention, pulled one back (31).
