The Borussia Dortmund U23s will end their 22-day break without competitive action in the Regionalliga West when they travel to SC Wiedenbrück on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 15:00 CET). Jan Siewert's charges will be hoping to build on their positive start to the season in what is only their third league fixture.

The Black & Yellows have picked up four points from their opening two matches in the Regionalliga, following up their last-minute win at Bonner SC with a draw against Viktoria Köln. The early season hiatus, which lasted over three weeks, was used to fine-tune elements of their game and, importantly, to maintain their rhythm. The U23s scheduled friendlies against Westfalenliga club Lüner SV and third-division outfit KFC Uerdingen to test out certain tactical variations and to give the youngsters who have returned from injury some playing time. One such player was Dario Scuderi, who made his first brief appearance for the team following a lengthy injury lay-off.

Sunday will see the Black & Yellows face SC Wiedenbrück, who are still without a win this season. However, coach Björn Mehnert's team have drawn three matches in addition to a defeat at promoted SV Straelen on Matchday 2. While the Black & Yellows could prepare for Sunday in relative calm, Wiedenbrück were in action in the First Round of the Westfalian Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Black & Yellows have a positive head-to-head record against Wiedenbrück, having won four times and lost only twice. BVB have had their shooting boots on in those matches, scoring 14 times across the six games.

Kick-off at the Jahnstadion in Rheda-Wiedenbrück will be at 15:00 CET.
