Borussia Dortmund won a highly entertaining friendly match against third tier side VfL Osnabrück by a score of 6-0 (5-0). New arrival Paco Alcácer saw 74 minutes of action, in which he was involved in two goals. Jacon Bruun Larsen performed superbly, scoring four of the five goals BVB got before half time.

Friendly matches during the international break have traditionally always been dull affairs, but that certainly wasn't the case today at Bremer Brücke. Although 10 players were away on international duty, those who remained at home not only formed a strong starting line up (and bench!), they also showed that they're prepared for the busy weeks to come, with the team playing seven matches in 23 days. Coach Lucien Favre will have been delighted to take this on board.

It only took until the ninth minute for the flurry of goals to begin, Bruun Larsen guiding a Kagawa assist into the back of the net. The goal had been initiated by Alcácer, who also played the penultimate pass for the second goal. Once more, it was the impressive Kagawa who provided the final assist, delivering the ball for Bruun Larsen to finish (24.). Just 60 seconds later, the Dane notched his flawless hat trick to take the score to 3-0 (25.), set up this time by the combination play of Gómez und Götze.

Commanding first half

Just after the half hour mark, Bruun Larsen played his part in bringing the scoreline to 4-0. After the opposition's defense failed to clear his delivery into the box, the ball fell to Gómez, whose left footed shot found the net from a good 20 yards out (32.). Borussia were highly convincing in all aspects of play. After winning the ball in midfield, Toprak sent it upfield to Kagawa, who chipped it leftwards into the box, where Götze showed fantastic technique to lay it down for the onrushing Bruun Larsen, goal, 5-0 (41.). The scoreline could well have been even heavier in BVB's favour before half time, as Piszczek (23.) and Götze (33.) only just failed to hit the target.

Osnabrück had the better of the first 15 minutes of the second half, creating three good goal scoring opportunities. Soon afterwards, BVB were once more in the driving seat, and the substitute Philipp took their lead to 6-0 in the 78th minute, with Götze providing the assist. Given the short advance sale period for tickets, all involved ought to be happy with the 10,000 spectators who were present in the stands.
