Borussia Dortmund's U19s only have a slim chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the UEFA Youth League after losing 4-3 at home to Atlético Madrid.

In what was a high-quality and dramatic group-stage clash in Brackel, the Black & Yellows fell behind with only two minutes on the clock when Aitor Punal headed home a cross. Immanuel Pherai did restore parity in the 33rd minute, but the visitors promptly re-established their lead from a corner to make it 2-1 heading into half-time.

Having switched goalkeepers − Luc Hawryluk replaced the injured Luca Unbehaun in the 65th minute − the hosts endured a tough spell midway through the second period and the Rojiblancos took full advantage, scoring twice in the 71st and 75th minute. But despite the 4-1 deficit, Benjamin Hoffmann's charges never gave in and Robin Kehr handed them a lifeline when he made it 4-2 in the 80th minute, before adding another 60 seconds later to set up a grandstand finish. However, the (deserved) equaliser never materialised, with the unmarked Emre Aydinel missing an excellent chance from inside the box with only two minutes remaining.

The other match in Group A saw AS Monaco claim a 3-2 win at Club Bruges. (wiwi)
