Borussia Dortmund legends played their first fixture on foreign soil this Sunday. The team played two halves of 30 minutes against Buriram United OG in the sticky heat which resulted in a 1-1 draw. The single goal was scored by Ewerthon despite many chances.

Buriram are the current Thai champions and have won the title six times in the last ten years. Half a dozen players from the current squad helped the legends out. Buriram's oldest player was 40 and the youngest 29 years old whilst BVB's Julio César was the granddad at 55 years old. Five players played the whole game: Weidenfeller, Evanilson, Dedé, Tinga and player-manager Jörg Heinrich.

The conditions for the fixture required some acclimatisation for the Europeans with temperatures at 28 degrees Celsius and 85 per cent air humidity.

10,140 spectators took advantage of the free entry to the match and the atmosphere had an almost latin feel as ten drummers led the singing fans for the full hour.

The Latin enthusiasm on the pitch was taken care of by a total of seven BVB Brazilians, who tantalised the Thais with tricks and tempo. Amoroso and Co. were generous in chance creation yet it was Roman Weidenfeller who sealed the draw in the second half with a sensational stop. Ewerthon scored BVB's only goal.
