Both players and manager suggested they were pleased with the result but not the performance after the win over Sport-Club Freiburg. "It wasn't easy, and perhaps not our best game either", opined Thomas Delaney. Here follows the initial reaction.

Thomas Delaney: "We did very well today. It wasn't easy and perhaps not our best game either. We really had to fight but stay positive at the same time. I'm really satisfied. It's difficult from week to week; we run and work a lot, that's going well right now. Freiburg were strong defensively and were always a danger on the break. We went after the second goal, that always eases the nerves a bit. We only got it very late on."

Marco Reus: "Other than the points we've already got in the bag, we haven't won anything. We remain focused. If you win games like today's, then hopefully you'll be in and around the top of the table. Freiburg stood deep like Brugge did. If I'd got the second goal at the beginning of the second half then maybe that would have taken the wind out of Freiburg's sails. A 1-0 lead is always dangerous. Freiburg had already demonstrated that in Munich when they came back late to equalise. Paco was on target for us again today. We are really happy that we are able to celebrate a win again today after the exhausting weeks we've had."

Roman Bürki: "The situation was similar to Wednesday: our opponent stood deep and lurked on the counter. Freiburg didn't actually create any dangerous situations, but I was still happy when we made it to 2-0. A one-goal lead against such an opponent is always dangerous. It was hard to play the first half of the match with a silent stadium. Nonetheless, we performed well and moved the ball around nicely. Overall, we can be happy with our performance and the win."

Ömer Toprak: "It was very difficult, we knew that before the match. Freiburg's result against FC Bayern was particularly noteworthy. But ultimately we did really well today."

Lucien Favre: "It wasn't easy. We had to be really patient and play a lot of passes in order to find the gaps. Freiburg stood very compactly, and now we have to work on a few more details up until next Saturday."
