The Borussia Dortmund first-team will face Schalke in the Ruhr derby on Saturday afternoon, but before that gets underway there's another local rivalry to be played: Jan Siewert's U23s will play host to SG Wattenscheid at 14.00 CET in the Rote Erde Stadium.

There was a huge sense of disappointment after the defeat to Viktoria Cologne. Borussia were playing the top side in the Regionalliga West, and for long periods of the game they had managed to make life difficult for them. In the end, it was two defensive errors that meant the Black and Yellows went home empty handed. ''We actually managed to execute our plan,'' said Siewert in his summary of the match. The Dortmund coach is not known for his defeatist attitude, so his team can be expected to go into the matches to come with as much determination as ever.

The visitors this Saturday travel to Strobelallee in 14th place in the table. With a total of 22 points, SG are just one place above the relegation zone. That being said, they have recently put together a decent run of results. Farat Toku's side's last defeat came in late October, and since then they have gone four matches undefeated (one win, three draws). In this same fixture earlier in the season, BVB essentially had the game wrapped up in the first few minutes: Marco Rente, Philipp Hanke and Sergio Gomez provided the goals as BVB secured a 3-1 away win.
