The federal tribunal of the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt has made a formal amendment to the DFB sports tribunal's verdict against Borussia Dortmund from the 2 November 2018 in relation of incidents which occurred in the away fans section during the Bundesliga match away to TSG Hoffenheim on 22 September 2018. Borussia Dortmund took the decision to appeal against the verdict. The court of appeals has now judged in favour of BVB.

The ban placed on all forms of flags and banners will now only apply to matches played away to Hoffenheim until the end of the 2021/22 season, and not to the equivalent home matches. This is in line with the request placed by BVB.

All remaining aspects of the original verdict agreed on by the sports tribunal remain in place. This includes a €50,000 financial fine as well as a suspended sentence which would mean that the club would not be able to bring away fans to Hoffenheim for the next three seasons should the associated conditions not be met.
