Borussia Dortmund's U19s have reached the semi-finals of the U19 DFB Cup by beating 1. FC Magdeburg 2-1 (0-0).

BVB, league leaders in the Western division of the U19 Bundesliga, managed to overcome North/North-Eastern side 1. FC Magdeburg 2-1 (0-0) in the quarter-finals. Dortmund went into the match as favourites and in the first half they were able to create several good goal-scoring opportunities, but FCM goalkeeper Tim Kips was well-placed on each occasion to deny the Black and Yellows.

In the second-half, a goal from Alaa Bakir (71) gave the visitors from the Ruhr the lead. However, it didn't take long for Marce Plewa (77) to find the back of the net and draw a dogged and determined Magdeburg side level. In the end, it was the Dutch U18 national player Immanuel Pherai (81) who popped up with the decisive goal. BVB now stand on the brink of a second ever appearance in the cup final. The last time came back in 2009, when BVB ultimately lost 6-5 against SC Freiburg in a penalty shoot-out. The seven-time German U19 league champions have never been crowned winners of the cup competition.
