Borussia Dortmund have today granted Jan Siewert approval to make an immediate switch to English Premier League club Huddersfield Town. The 36-year-old tactician has been in charge of the Black & Yellows’ U23 team in the Regionalliga West for the past one and a half seasons.

Before joining BVB, the Mayen native enjoyed spells at several clubs including VfL Bochum and RW Essen. After hanging up his boots as a player, Siewert worked at DFB headquarters and as a youth coach for the national team setup. “Following careful consideration, we’ve decided to grant Jan Siewert’s wish to move to England so that he can take the next step in his coaching development,” said Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc, who added: “We’d like to thank Jan Siewert for the work he’s done at BVB and wish him all the best for the task that lies ahead in Huddersfield!”

Jan Siewert will be succeeded as U23 coach by Alen Terzic on an interim basis. The 38-year-old – the older brother of Edin Terzic, assistant coach for the senior side – will move to the Strobelallee from Oberliga outfit FC Brünninghausen. He will take charge of the reserves, who have been preparing for the Regionalliga restart in mid-February since last week, until the end of the current campaign.
