In the first half, Hannover 96 made a real impact and had more shots than their hosts (10-8). In the second period, however, it was almost entirely one-way traffic as BVB had the vast majority of the shots (10-2) and the possession (68 percent). The second, third and fourth goals were all scored in the space of under seven minutes.

Historic haul: Borussia Dortmund have won 15 of their 19 Bundesliga matches – including nine of their last 10 – and have their highest-ever points haul (48) at this stage of the season. Only twice in their history have BVB scored more goals at this stage of a season than their current 50 – in 2015/16 (52) and 1963/64 (54).

Fortress: Lucien Favre is yet to lose a home game with BVB. There have been nine wins and a draw in the Bundesliga, alongside three further triumphs and a draw in the UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup.

Personal best: Never before at BVB has Marco Reus scored 12 goals in his first 19 games of a season, though he did for Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2011/12 (18 goals by the end of the season).

Bundesliga: Raphael Guerreiro had already scored four times this season in the Champions League, but his goal against Hannover was his first in the Bundesliga since 25 November 2017 (against Schalke). His ninth Bundesliga goal was the first he has scored with his right foot.

Team effort: Axel Witsel is the only Dortmund player to have scored twice since the winter break. He secured the 1-0 win in Leipzig and rounded off the 5-1 victory over Hannover. The five goals against the men from Lower Saxony were scored by five different players throughout the team.

Presence: Axel Witsel had more touches (93) than any other player on the pitch, won an impressive 65 percent of his challenges and rounded off the 5-1 win with his goal.

Provider: Jadon Sancho set up two goals and now has 12 assists this season. Since records started to be collected in 1992, no Dortmund player has amassed more assists in the first 19 games of a season than the 18-year-old.

All-important opener: Borussia Dortmund have an almost flawless record in games where they have opened the scoring (W15 D1 L0).

Offensive defenders: BVB have scored more goals through defenders than any other team (five). Achraf Hakimi scored his second today, having previously netted in the 7-0 win over Nuremberg.

Woodwork: Marco Reus has been denied by the woodwork more than any other player in the league (three times). He also hit the woodwork in the 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.
