A furious first half was followed by a second period that was equally intense but offered far less in the way of chances. Frankfurt, who only had 42 percent possession after the restart, misplaced a number of passes and focused mainly on counter-attacks. Dortmund, meanwhile, struggled to created chances after the break and were largely restricted to shots from distance. In the end, a draw was a fair result.

Spells of dominance: Frankfurt dictated the opening stages with more shots (3-0) in the opening five minutes. Dortmund then totally dominated the shot count (6-0) between the 10th and 29th minutes, only for the Eagles to have all the opportunities (5-0) in the quarter-hour before the break.

Personal best: Never before in his career has Marco Reus scored 13 goals in the first 20 games of a Bundesliga season.

Outstanding record: BVB only dropped points in the Bundesliga for the fifth time this season and have only ever once had a higher points haul after 20 rounds of matches in a Bundesliga campaign.

No win despite going ahead: For only the second time this term in the league, BVB dropped points after taking the lead. It was the first time they have done so away from home.

Uncompromising: Sebastian Rode had the highest tackle win rate of any Frankfurt player (64 percent) and covered more ground than anyone else on the pitch (12.8km). But he committed the most fouls too (three).
