Borussia Dortmund only had 37 percent possession in their home game against Bayer Leverkusen – their lowest tally all season – but won thanks to a clinical attacking performance that saw them convert three of their four shots at the Bayer goal. Overall, though, the shot count was 13-10 in Leverkusen's favour.

A half of two halves: Leverkusen had more shots in the opening 25 minutes (5-1), but it was Dortmund who had way more efforts on goal in the remainder of the first half (6-1).

Yet another win: Borussia Dortmund have now racked up more wins in the current Bundesliga campaign (16) than they did in the entirety of last season.

Strong at home: BVB are still yet to lose a Bundesliga home game under Lucien Favre (10 victories and two draws) and have scored at least two goals in each of their home games in the 2018/19 season.

Team effort: 19-year-old Dan-Axel Zagadou is the 18th BVB goalscorer of the season. The Frenchman scored his second Bundesliga goal, having only previously netted – also from a corner – against Hannover in October 2017.

Youngest goalscorer: At 18 years and 336 days, Jadon Sancho has displaced Lukas Podolski as the youngest Bundesliga player to score nine goals. Seven of his nine Bundesliga goals – eight of which have come this season – have been scored in home games.

Fine form: Mario Götze has now scored more goals this term (four) than he did in the last two seasons combined (three). He has now scored in three successive Bundesliga home games and covered more distance than any other player on the pitch (11.8km) against Leverkusen prior to his substitution.

First booking: Raphael Guerreiro received his first yellow card in 47 Bundesliga outings.

Provider: Abdou Diallo set up a goal for the first time in a BVB shirt.

Coach opts for both: Mario Götze and Paco Alcácer started a match for the first time this season in any competition. It's previously been a case of "either or".

Starting XI: The BVB defence (goalkeeper and back four) was the same as in the first meeting with Leverkusen, which the Black & Yellows won 4-2, while the offensive four were completely different (Guerreiro, Götze, Sancho and Alcacer instead of Bruun Larsen, Reus, Pulisic and Philipp).
