Jadon Sancho: "It was an important victory. I think we're back on the right track. Now we'll be in a better position to approach the upcoming games, because we'll believe that we're capable of winning those matches too. Another hard game is awaiting us on Friday. We'll need to remain focused and train well."

Manuel Akanji: "It's a very good feeling. It wasn't easy for me to be watching on TV and to see while things haven't been going so well. Today I tried to play my part in changing that. It wasn't an easy match, but we defended really well as a team. Roman helped us out a few times too. This win will serve to boost our self-confidence."

Dan-Axel Zagadou: "The three points were important, especially in front of our own fans and against a team like Leverkusen. That gives us strength. It was nice for me to score and obviously I'm proud, but the most important thing is that the team got the win."

Lucien Favre: "We had to defend intensely at the beginning. They dominated us. We went 1-0 up. We should've defended their equaliser better. Going 2-1 up was important for morale. Leverkusen are a good team. It's difficult to control them. We reacted well, we stayed calm. That was important. We wanted to win the ball back higher up the pitch, that was difficult. We could've made it 4-1 but they made it 3-2 instead. It was dangerous right until the end."

Michael Zorc: "We had a similar match against Hoffenheim which ultimately finished 3-3. Today we defended better at the end. We didn't really have control over the match today. We had to work hard without the ball, launched good counter-attacks and scored one goal more. When you play at home, you want to dominate. We didn't manage that. We didn't get stuck into the challenges, which is why Leverkusen had a high share of possession. There was a spell where we were often chasing them. Five matches without a win is unusual. There's nothing quite like a win, so that's why it did us a lot of good today to finally get a victory after five games."
