Borussia Dortmund's U17s suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 away from home to Arminia Bielefeld at the quarter-final stage of the Westfalen Cup. Rilind Hetemi was shown a red card after the final whistle. ''We'll learn from this match,'' said coach Sebastian Geppert. The U17s will pick things up in the Bundesliga on 18 May when they travel to play FC Hennef 05. The young Black & Yellows have all but secured qualification for the final round of the German Championship.

The U19s, meanwhile, are being put through their paces by head coach Benjamin Hoffmann in preparation for their last two matches of the Bundesliga season. The young BVB side, led by captain Tobias Raschl, will travel to play Alemannia Aachen this Sunday. Their last match of the season will take place on Saturday 11 May, with MSV Duisburg the guests at the BVB youth performance centre in Brackel. Wins in both of these fixtures would be enough to ensure qualification for the final round of the German Championship regardless of the results of their competitors.
