The Borussia Dortmund club officials were torn in the aftermath of the 2-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach: on the one hand, there was palpable disappointment at missing out on the title; on the other, they were delighted with the third-best season in the club's history. They also spoke about objectives for the future.

Hans-Joachim Watzke: "The team performed like champions today. They played very well and were very comfortable. I'm very proud of the team. We've achieved the third-best points tally that BVB has ever obtained in the Bundesliga. Perhaps there was a little more in it for us. If we'd won one game more, we would've been champions. But we're only at the start of our development. You could see today the huge potential that the team has. Bayern Munich had an incredible second half of the season. They have two points more and have deservedly become German champions. You can only congratulate them on that. We'll try to compete with them in the coming years. It's ambitious, but we're going to try."

Michael Zorc: "There was still some hope during the game, especially when the score was 1-1 in Munich. But we've had a very good season, the third-best in the club's history in terms of points. We've played at a very high level over a long period of time and did our homework in the Champions League too. This season obliges us and motivates us to challenge in the coming years."

Sebastian Kehl: "The sense of disappointment is still there, because this season we had the chances to become German champions. On the other hand, you have to recognise that we produced some fantastic performances, especially in the first half of a season which we've ended with 76 points. We've achieved a lot more this year than we could've dreamt of at the beginning of the season. We're also happy about the fact that we managed to finish it off in style today."

Roman Bürki: "There's a lot of disappointment. We were very close but ultimately it wasn't enough. But tomorrow or the day after, we'll be proud of how good we were and what we've achieved this season. I didn't know while on the pitch that Frankfurt had equalised. Later, we knew that the game was up. You could see that in our play. We were keeping the ball in our ranks and making the opposition chase it."
