After a successful regular season, the Borussia Dortmund U17s now face VfL Wolfsburg in a two-legged German Championship semi-final tie, the first leg of which takes place on Wednesday.

The U19s have set the example and now the U17s have the chance to match their achievements and put the icing on a superb season by winning the German Championship title. The young Black & Yellows, led by star goalscorer Youssoufa Moukoko, will face a stiff test in the semi-final. ''We're facing a really strong side, I'm expecting two evenly-matched games,'' said coach Sebastian Geppert in advance of the first leg against Bundesliga North/North-East winners VfL Wolfsburg on Wednesday (18:00 CET at the youth performance centre in Brackel). The other semi-final pits Bayern Munich against 1. FC Cologne.

BVB have qualified for the last stages of the German Championship five times since 2014. Their seven title wins put them joint-top of the all-time leaderboard alongside VfB Stuttgart. Aside from the injured Kamal Bafounta and Tekin Gencoglu, Sebastian Geppert is able to field a full-strength side. The second leg will take place on Saturday (15:00 CET) in Wolfsburg. (wiwi)
