Borussia Dortmund rounded off their preparations for the upcoming Bundesliga season, which begins next weekend, in style by winning their seventh and final summer friendly on Saturday afternoon. Leonardo Balerdi and Dan-Axel Zagadou both scored before a late Mario Götze brace wrapped up a 4-0 (1-0) win over third-tier Preußen Münster for the Black & Yellows.

Lucien Favre used the friendly against the seventh-placed side in the third division as an opportunity to field the players who saw little or no action in the 2-0 DFB Cup victory over KFC Uerdingen last night. Despite the absence of Bürki, Guerreiro and Morey, it was still an incredibly strong side that captain Mario Götze led out onto the pitch. Having overcome an adductor problem, Julian Brandt made his debut in a Black & Yellow shirt, and the new signing from Leverkusen played a pivotal role in the opening goal: his corner was headed into the Münster net by Leonardo Balerdi as the visitors took a 24th-minute lead.

It had not been a game brimming with highlights until that point. The best chance to open the scoring had fallen to Hakimi shortly beforehand, but the Morocco international fired wide after playing a one-two with Wolf. At the other end, Oelschlägel did well to deny Dadashov in the 31st minute. It was not the only opportunity for the men from Preußen, who took advantage of a number of errors from BVB in what was an even first half.

Brandt, who only returned to full training on Thursday, was replaced by Raschl at half-time. BVB began to play with more purpose and came close when Götze's shot from the penalty spot following great build-up play from Bruun Larsen and Dahoud was turned behind for a corner (54). Other notable opportunities included Dahoud's powerful effort from a centre-right position 14 metres out (56) and Hakimi's shot from a narrow angle (64).

It was a lovely move that led to the second goal, with Dahoud playing a through-ball into the path of substitute Gomez on the left-side of the box. His cross did not pick out a team-mate, but the second attempt – a chipped cross from the right by Delaney – was met by the head of the onrushing Zagadou, who left Schnitzler in the Preußen goal with no chance (76). Two further goals were scored in the space of two minutes by Götze, who first slotted home Hakimi's low cross in the 85th minute and then, two minutes later, perfectly timed his run to meet Dahoud's pass, before rounding the keeper and tapping home into an empty net.
