We're off to the Costa del Sol! The BVB delegation began the journey to their training camp in Marbella on Saturday morning. We have all the information on BVB's stay in Spain between 4 and 12 January below.

The coaching staff will have 30 players to work with in Marbella, including the talented youngsters Gio Reyna, Immanuel Pherai, Steffen Tigges and Chris Führich. "On the one hand, we want to observe the lads continuously over a period of several days," explained Sebastian Kehl, head of the licensed player division. "On the other, we need alternatives in certain positions as other players are still suffering from injuries."

On that note, there's good news: all players who have recently picked up injuries or knocks have travelled with the squad to Spain. That said, Marco Reus and Thorgan Hazard will largely be focusing on rehabilitation measures during their time in Marbella. Axel Witsel, Thomas Delaney, Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer will also need to be eased back into team training individually. Winter signing Erling Haaland will work separately from the team during the first few days. Next week, Jacob Bruun Larsen, who has a bad cold at the moment and has been ordered to rest in bed until the weekend, will link up with the squad.

The BVB squad: Bürki, Unbehaun, Hitz, Oelschlägel – Zagadou, Hakimi, Delaney, Sancho, Dahoud, Alcácer, Götze, Reus, Guerreiro, Schulz, Hummels, Akanji, Haaland, Balerdi, Brandt, Morey, Hazard, Piszczek, Witsel, Schmelzer, Reyna, Bruun Larsen, Raschl, Pherai, Tigges, Führich

The fixtures: Borussia Dortmund's first friendly will be against Standard Liege, the club of Axel Witsel's youth, on 7 January. Kick-off at Marbella Stadium will be at 16:00 CET (live on BVB-TV). Four days later on 11 January, BVB face a double-header: our boys will first face Dutch top-flight outfit Feyenoord at the 'Dama de Noche' training ground at 12:00 CET, before taking on fellow Bundesliga side Mainz 05 at the Marbella Football Center at 17:00 CET (live on BVB-TV).

The training sessions: The first training session will take place on Saturday afternoon. On the days where no fixtures are scheduled, BVB will train twice – at 10:30 CET and 16:30 CET. On Wednesday 8 January, only a morning session has been scheduled (10:30 CET). Upon completion of one final session on Sunday 12 January, the squad will return home.
