After two weekends without Bundesliga football, the ball is rolling again – virtually at least. The German Football League (DFL) has organised the ''Bundesliga Home Challenge'', a tournament that sees 26 clubs from both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 go head-to-head on the Playstation game FIFA 20. Fans can follow the matches via a live stream online. Borussia Dortmund versus 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday ended in a draw.

Each fixture was split across two matches – and the Black & Yellows kicked off with YouTuber Erné Embeli from FeelFIFA, who was up against fellow YouTuber Julian Greis, selected to represent the 05ers. The game finished 1-1, with Marco Reus the virtual goalscorer for BVB. The second match saw right-back Achraf Hakimi take on Mainz first-teamer Daniel Brosinski. Hakimi twice took the lead – he actually put BVB 2-1 ahead with his own avatar on the video game – but the game ultimately ended 2-2.

Both matches can be re-watched on the BVB YouTube channel.

In addition to the Borussia Dortmund match, there were six other "Bundesliga Home Challenge" fixtures that took place on Saturday. A further six fixtures are scheduled to take place on Sunday. It is not yet set in stone how the Bundesliga Home Challenge will proceed over the course of the coming weekends.
