It's been a perfect start to the season for the BVB U23s. Two wins from two matches mean that coach Enrico Maaßen's side have picked up six points to begin their 2020/21 Regionalliga campaign.

The Black & Yellows emerged victorious from both their opening day trip to Alemannia Aachen as well as their Matchday 2 encounter with the 1. FC Cologne U23s. ''You're always happy when you pick up maximum points. Of course there are still a few things we need to work on, but the core qualities required to win games are all there,'' says BVB defender Niklas Dams, adding: ''That's why we've picked up six points from two games. We're on the right track.''

Now Enrico Maaßen's side will be hoping to pick up three more points on Wednesday night when they travel to play Sportfreunde Lotte in their first late kick-off of the new season. In their only game of the season thus far, Lotte played out a 2-2 draw away to Bonner SC. Coach Imke Wübbenhorst's side looked destined for all three points before conceding an equaliser deep into injury time. Lotte have a very young squad, led by experienced captain Timo Brauer, who had a long spell at RW Essen before signing for Sportfreunde last season.
