Lucien Favre praised the variety, Sebastian Kehl the mood in the dressing room, while Mats Hummels highlighted the concentration in defence. And the goalscorers? Erling Haaland and Gio Reyna were delighted - especially that ''some of our fans can be there again.'' Here are the match reactions.

Lucien Favre: ''I like working with young players, but of course I like working with experienced ones too. The variety is really good, that was there to see in our 3-0 win today. Mats plays the ball forward, and Jadon and Erling sprint the length of the pitch. It was a brilliant goal at the end. The variety gives us a great feeling. We're going to need all of our players over this long season. Now we have to analyse the match before picking things up next week.''

Sebastian Kehl: ''I'm very happy with the result. We were all looking forward to getting started again. The atmosphere was really really good, even if only 9,300 fans were in the stadium today. The lads were really up for it. It obviously wasn't an easy match. Gladbach did a very good job in the first half. It was an even match, and in the end we were really efficient. We executed our counter-attacks well and deservingly won as a result. We're very happy today. It's impressive how many young players we had in the side today. The mood in the dressing room is fantastic, you saw that both during and after the game today. The team performed exceptionally well today.''

Mats Hummels: ''It was a pretty even game. Gladbach got their tactics spot on in the first half. They gave us very little space, but we didn't make many mistakes. We didn't give anything away in the second half. We know that we'll always create chances going forward and will have opportunities to score goals. That's why we were so proactive. It was a brilliant start for us, but we're still a long way from hitting top gear.''

Giovanni Reyna: ''It was a very good start to the season. We have a lot of young players, it's really enjoyable. We all have so much energy, but we need to keep working, we need to improve even more. We were so happy to see that some of our fans could be there again. That's very important for us as players.''

Erling Haaland: ''It's a good result for us. I'm happy that it's all underway again, especially with 10,000 fans in the stadium. It felt unbelievable to have them back there. They supported us, and we needed that today. They gave us an extra boost, and it was obviously fantastic to score a goal in front of them.''
