Now that's how you make a statement! Three days after their sobering 41-29 defeat in the Champions League against Brest Bretagne, Borussia Dortmund bounced back to win 36-19 (24-9) over Bundesliga rivals Buxtehuder SV. The Black & Yellows have now picked up three wins in their three league matches thus far.

Borussia seemed to have no problem shrugging off their Champions League defeat from last weekend; right from the start of the match, they outclassed their opponents Buxtehude. The visitors from northern Germany had no response to the pace and power served up by coach Andre Fuhr's side. BVB built up a 13-4 lead with just 15 minutes on the clock, increasing their advantage to 15 goals by half-time (24-9).

After the break, Fuhr allowed some of his starters to take a breather. This allowed Buxtehude to find more rhythm in their play, but still they were unable to pose much of a threat to BVB. When all was said and done, the scoreboard read 36-19 in favour of the Black & Yellows. Team captain Alina Grijseels was the standout performer, providing several deft passes to gift her teammates scoring opportunities while also chipping in with seven goals.

Plaudits also go to goalkeeper Yara ten Holte, who made several impressive saves. Wingers Vollebregt and Gutierrez-Bermejo were prolific in front of goal once again.

The Black & Yellows are next in action on Saturday, when they travel to Croatia to play Podravka Vegeta in the EHF Champions League. This is followed by an international break, with the next game scheduled for 7 October.
