On Thursday (1 October), the draw for the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League will be made in Athens. The ceremony is scheduled to get underway at 17:00 CET. Borussia Dortmund have been placed in pot 2 - alongside Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and both Manchester clubs.

2019 winners Liverpool and last season's Europa League champions Sevilla are in pot 1, meaning they are both potential opponents for BVB. They are joined by league winners Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris St. Germain, Zenit St. Petersburg and FC Porto.

The eight groups of four are made up of one team from each pot. However, certain restrictions apply: teams from the same country are kept apart, while teams from Russia and Ukraine cannot be drawn in the same group. (br)
