Borussia Dortmund's women's handballers are the only Bundesliga club yet to drop a point this season after extending their 100 percent record on Wednesday evening. Coach André Fuhr's charges beat Göppingen 28-17 (15-7) away to make it five wins from five.

A focused start and some fearsome high-tempo play put BVB 8-1 ahead with only 11 minutes played. The opposition were completely overwhelmed at that early stage and the half-time score – 15-7 – reflected the balance of play.

It was a similar story in the second period, with the Black & Yellows clearly in the ascendancy. André Fuhr handed playing time to the entire squad – with the exception of Jennifer Gutierrez, who was given a breather. Borussia Dortmund could have made the result even more clear-cut towards the end of the game, but some big chances were squandered. The best throwers were Johanna Stockschläder, with seven goals, followed by Merel Freriks with five. Given the exhausting Champions League game against CSKA Moscow on Sunday, it was on the whole a comfortable performance, a deserved away win and a points tally of 10-0 in the league.

Up next for the Black & Yellows in their congested fixture schedule is an EHF Champions League home game against Buducnost Podgorica on Sunday. That will be followed by a league clash with Kurpfalz Bären on 21 October. (br)
