Following the victory in Hoffenheim, sporting director Michael Zorc, captain and goalscorer Marco Reus and Felix Passlack spoke about the game.

Michael Zorc: "We really deserved to win the match. We had to make an injury-enforced substitution in the first period; we lost another defensive player. We then brought on Thomas Delaney to play in the centre of defence. He performed the role outstandingly. The introductions of Haaland and Reus gave us an additional attacking push and we created goalscoring chances en masse. We should've put the game to bed earlier, but all in all we did our job here very well. When you consider as well that we haven't won here in such a long time, I'm very satisifed."

Marco Reus: "It was important today that we got the decisive goal. It became apparent early on that the team that scored the first goal would have a good chance of winning the match. We have always really struggled here in recent years. It was an even game. In the second half, though, we created more chances for ourselves. We attacked better and also managed to get in behind them. There were three points up for grabs today and we got them. Hoffenheim are strong at home. They play with a good system and it was very difficult for us today, as has been the case in recent years too."

Felix Passlack: "We highly deserved to win, created a lot of scoring chances for ourselves and had more of the game. In the end we could have or even should have won by a slightly higher margin. The team that started this match today served as proof that we have a big squad with a lot of quality. Everyone wants to play for Borussia Dortmund – and being able to bring players like that off the bench is a big statement. I worked really hard in the summer and during the corona break with a special trainer I'm happy that's now paying off. Now it's about every player staying fit, continuing to work on himself and taking his chance on the pitch."
