Borussia Dortmund striker Steffen Tigges has this week signed a professional contract that runs until 30 June 2024.

The 22-year-old goal-getter was promoted from the U23s to the first-team squad shortly before the winter break and soon made a very good impression in his new surroundings. "Steffen Tigges has undergone a great sporting development in the past few months and he possesses a really interesting striker profile," declared BVB sporting director Michael Zorc.

Tigges joined the Borussia Dortmund U23s from VfL Osnabrück in the summer of 2019 and was given the captain's armband this season. The hard-running 1.93m-tall forward has notched 21 goals and 17 assists in his 43 matches in a BVB shirt to date.

"I'm happy and proud to have signed a professional contract with this great club. It's a huge honour and sign of recognition from the club," said Tigges, before adding: "I will continue to work hard to ensure that I repay this trust with performances!"
