Borussia Dortmund's winning streak in the women's handball Bundesliga just keeps going. Coach André Fuhr's side ran out 37-28 (23-13) winners at home to FRISCH AUF Göppingen on Sunday afternoon and thereby celebrated their 20th win in their 20th game of the Bundesliga season.

The game against Göppingen got off to a hectic start: Borussia were able to find their wing players in space early on. Goals from Kelly Vollebregt, Johanna Stockschläder and Inger Smits (seven-metre throw) fired the Black & Yellows into a 3-1 lead by the third minute. However, some poor throws and technical errors from BVB allowed the visitors to seize a 4-3 lead (6) before Inger Smits brought Borussia back in front 6-5 in the ninth minute through her fast counter-attacks.

The Göppingen coach called a timeout in the 17th minute with the score at 10-9 in favour of BVB. However, his decision didn't have the desired effect, as it was the Black & Yellow who emerged stronger after the break: strong defence and quick goals from Merel Freriks, Laura van der Heijden and Johanna Stockschläder helped the home side open up a 13-9 lead (20). A strong save from Isabell Roch and a gorgeous Stockschläder assist from out wide for the wide-open Laura van der Heijden gave Borussia their first five-goal lead of the game (15-10) in the 22nd minute.

André Fuhr brought Dana Bleckmann, Clara Monti Danielsson and Alina Grijseels into the fray - and the Black & Yellows managed to up their level once more: by half-time, the scoreline stood at 23-13. After the interval, Jennifer Gutiérrez Bermejo, Tina Abdulla, Jennifer Rode und goalkeeper Yara ten Holte came onto the floor, with Kelly Dulfer slotting in at pivot. The new line-up had no problem maintaining the ten-goal advantage: by the 40th minute, the scoreboard read 28-18.

After Yara ten Holte made a save from a seven-metre throw, Dana Bleckmann increased the lead to 30-19 before Tina Abdulla extended it to 31-19 from the right wing (44). Göppingen were able to capitalise on some sloppy passing from Borussia to draw back to within ten goals at 33-23 (49), but the Black & Yellows were able to hold their opponents at bay in what remained of the game. By the time the clock was out, the score was 37-28, and the entire BVB squad had had minutes on the court.

Alina Grijseels and Clara Monti Danielsson suffered light knocks and were withdrawn early as a precautionary measure for the upcoming games. BVB will have the chance to make it 21 wins in a row in just three days' time. On Wednesday evening (19:30 CET), Grijseels and co. have a road trip to the Kurpfalz-Bären in Ketsch. The Black & Yellows sit atop the Bundesliga table with 40:0 points.
