Borussia Dortmund are currently on a three-match winning streak. Should that run be extended to four games, they will book their place in the semi-finals of this season's DFB Cup. The Black & Yellows will be away to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the quarter-final of the competition on Tuesday (kick-off at 20:45 CET).

BVB reached five cup finals between 2012 and 2017, and four in a row starting in 2014. But they haven't been involved in the Berlin showpiece since then, with defeats ending their cup run at the last-16 stage in each of the last three seasons (firstly against Bayern Munich, then twice against Werder Bremen). "Up until a few years ago, we were constantly going to Berlin. We miss that; we long for that," said sporting director Michael Zorc, before adding: "We'll do everything in our power to take the next step tomorrow. We have a huge opportunity. The DFB Cup is the easiest route to a title."

BVB will head into the game in confident mood following their victories against Sevilla (3-2) in the UEFA Champions League, and against FC Schalke 04 (4-0) and Arminia Bielefeld (3-0) in the Bundesliga. "The team will go into the upcoming games with self-belief, which they have built up thanks to their results but also the way they've been playing," remarked Zorc. "Even when the results were not as good as they are now, the work we did on the training ground during the week was the basis for everything. For some time now, we have had a very good feeling about the collaboration between the coach and the team." Coach Edin Terzic reiterated that: "We were laughed at when the results weren't right at first. Against Schalke and Sevilla, the little things that can tip a game in your favour were on our side. We want to build on those performances."

BVB and Borussia Mönchengladbach have already faced off twice this term – in the opening fixture of the first and second half of the Bundesliga season – and the respective home team has won on both occasions. The 4-2 defeat on Matchday 18 was only five and a half weeks ago. "We have a lot to prepare for, but we've successfully put enough automatic processes into practice in our recent matches," Terzic said.

Whether Thomas Delaney, who had to sit out the match on Saturday with a fever, will be available to face Gladbach remains to be seen. "We hope that he can be with us on the training ground tomorrow morning. Then we'll decide whether he makes it into the squad," said Terzic. For the first time since recovering from injury, Thorgan Hazard and Dan-Axel Zagadou were handed a run-out against Bielefeld. "That's important for them, especially at this time. It's going to be intense with the English weeks now. That's why it's good from a coach's viewpoint to have a few more options."
