Marco Reus and Emre Can were proud but disappointed as they spoke to the media after the game. "City have sensational positional play, whereby they just make you run." The match reactions.

Marco Reus: "It was clear we'd have to do a lot of running and close the spaces down. We remained calm. We performed very well until the penalty. Man City obviously had the better chances. After they scored the penalty, we didn't really have a clear idea. We were simply too wild. City have sensational positional play, whereby they just make you run. Then it becomes difficult to get on the ball. City were better and more intelligent today. We have to acknowledge that unbegrudgingly."

Emre Can: "All in all our performance was okay, but that doesn't bring us much in the end. The match clearly changed after it went to 1-1. I touched the ball with my head first of all and then it landed on my arm. I believe the rules stipulate that's not a handball. It's bitter and it hurts. Nonetheless, we can be proud of ourselves. We were playing against perhaps the best team in the world, and we saw we can compete. That said, it is painful to go out here because we had the chances to go through."
