Despite registering fewer shots (9-16) and winning fewer corners (3-6), BVB claimed a 3-1 victory. It was a win where efficiency prevailed: all three shots on the Bayer Leverkusen goal went in. Here we bring you the match facts.

Safe hands: Roman Bürki saved seven of the eight Leverkusen shots at his goal. Only Lars Bender's penalty beat him.

Goal-getter: Erling Haaland scored from two of his three shots. He scored more than one goal in a game for the 11th time in the 2020/21 season; only Robert Lewandowski (2016/17) and Gerd Müller (1971/72, 12 times) have previously managed that. Haaland scored his 39th and 40th goals in the Bundesliga on his 43rd appearance; only Uwe Seeler reached 40 goals more quickly (one game fewer). An U21 player has never scored so many goals in the Bundesliga.

Scoring run: Marco Reus has found the net in each of the last three Bundesliga games; the last time he did so was over two years ago (start of 2019). He last scored directly from a free kick five years ago (versus Cologne in May 2016).

Captains: For his final match, Lukasz Piszczek led BVB out onto the pitch as captain for the first time this season. Sven Bender was the Bayer Leverkusen captain for the first time; he had last worn the armband as a BVB player in 2013.

Winning run: Borussia Dortmund have won each of their last seven Bundesliga matches; no other team has won that many games in a row this season. One more victory will equal the club record of eight wins, set between 17 December 2011 and 3 March 2012.

Goal record: The Black & Yellows have scored at least once in their last 32 Bundesliga matches, thus equalling the club record set under Ottmar Hitzfeld between 1995 and 1996.
