Raphael Guerreiro arrived at the team training camp on Sunday. Before joining his team-mates on the pitch, he answered questions from media representatives.

Raphael Guerreiro on returning to the team:
"I've been given a very good welcome here. It's easy for me, because I don't need a settling-in phase first like a new player does. I'm looking forward to seeing the team."

…the European Championship, which saw Portugal eliminated in the last 16:
"Losing is always difficult. But life goes on. Five years ago we won, but you can't win every time. With that in mind, we have to focus on the next major tournament. But now I'm concentrating on BVB."

…his goals for the season:
"Above all, my goal is to be injured as little as possible so that I can play my best and help the team as much as possible. But success is of course a team effort."

…achieving consistency in the coming season:
"It only happens through hard work. We have to train and get to know each other – both on and off the pitch. And we have to know what the coach wants. Soon there will be a first title up for grabs, the Supercup, where we definitely have a chance. I can see that we're a very good team."

…his position on the pitch:
"My preferred position is left-back, but I'll play where the coach puts me if he wants me to play. I respect this decision."

…his contact with Marco Rose:
"We've obviously already talked to each other, but we haven't yet spoken about his footballing philosophy. There are currently many team meetings which are shedding light on his approach."

…the new signings Soumaila Coulibaly and Abdoulaye Kamara:
"I'm now older than the team average and I'll be assuming a leadership role. We will ensure that they get started with language courses quickly, as I did too. That will ensure the pair get properly settled in soon."

…an anecdote about Dan-Axel Zagadou:
"Dan, Axel (Witsel) and I had a discussion with the former coach Lucien Favre, during which he showed us a video. Behind him was a mirror in which we could see each other the entire time. We started laughing and couldn't stop. Fortunately there were no consequences, but it was very funny and that kind of thing happens often with us."

…Dan-Axel Zagadou's long injury lay-off:
"I sent him messages to encourage him. But I don't like it when you're suffering from a long-term injury and you repeatedly get asked how you're doing. We have to give him the time and the opportunity to take a break, mentally too."
