Borussia Dortmund's U23s were rewarded for showing a lot of patience on Matchday 7 in the 3. Liga, earning a 1-0 (0-0) away win at TSV Havelse. Richmond Tachie scored the winner for the BVB after good work by Cebrail Makreckis. BVB move into third place in the table and will play host to top of the table Magdeburg next week.

Before the game: The HDI Arena in Hanover is the largest stadium in the 3. Liga this season. TSV's local Wilhelm Langrehr Stadion did not meet the requirements for the 3. Liga, so the team had to move to the Hannover 96 stadium.

The opposition: TSG have lost their first six games in the league and also suffered defeat in the Landespokal. With zero points and a goal difference of -11 (2 goals scored, 13 goals conceded), TSV are bottom of the table. Last time out, coach Rüdiger Ziehl's team lost 0-1 at SV Meppen.

Personnel: BVB coach Enrico Maaßen made four changes to his starting eleven. Stefan Drljaca, Ole Pohlmann, Timo Bornemann and Kolbeinn Finnsson replaced Luca Unbehaun, Ansgar Knauff (both away with the Germany U20s), Tobi Raschl and Steffen Tigges (both injured).

The match: The young Black and Yellows visibly struggled against their opponents who are currently far lower in the table. Havelse played several long balls and gave BVB very little room in their own half. A shot from distance by Papadopoulos and a free kick from Marco Pasalic were the most dangerous chances for BVB in the first 20 minutes.

After that, BVB turned up the heat, and after half an hour Marco Pasalic had the next chance to give them the lead, but a Havelse defender got his leg in the way to block the shot from a tight angle. Overall, the hosts were very physical, disrupting the flow of the game and thus also breaking up Dortmund's attacking football. Around five minutes before the half-time whistle, the BVB were forced to make a change due to injury. Cebrail Makreckis replaced the injured Marco Pasalic. The rest of the first half passed without any further incidents, so the sides went into the break at 0-0.

At the beginning of the second half, Enrico Maaßen made another change, as Ted Tattermusch replaced Timo Bornemann. Borussia penned TSV into their own half. The bottom of the table side struggled to get out. The Black and Yellows came close to taking the lead through Tattermusch on 48 minutes and Pohlmann after 61 minutes.

It was not until 68 minutes that the deadlock was finally broken. After a fine ball from Cebrail Makreckis, Richmond Tachie fired home to give BVB a 1-0 lead. The Black and Yellows wanted to build on their advantage, and now had more space so they continued to attack the Havelse goal. A quarter of an hour before the end of the match, Christian Viet came on to make his debut, replacing the goalscorer, Tachie. BVB had to survive one final free kick in injury time before they could celebrate a deserved away victory after a hard 90 minutes.

BVB U23s: Drljaca – Pasalic (Makreckis, 42), Taz, Tachie (Viet, 73), Bornemann (Tattermusch, 46), Papadopoulos, Pohlmann (Kamara, 84), Finnsson, Pfanne, Pherai, Dams

Goals: 0-1 Tachie (68)

Next up: Next Saturday, BVB will play top of the table 1. FC Magdeburg. Kick-off at the Rote Erde is at 14:00 CET.
