Here's what Sebastian Kehl, Marco Rose, Manuel Akanji and Angar Knauff had to say about the game:

Sebastian Kehl: "We shouldn't have lost that game. The second yellow and the red card determined how the game went. But we have to be honest with ourselves and say that we didn't create enough chances to score."

Marco Rose: "We started the match quite well, had control of the game in phases, but didn't put enough pressure on them up-front and didn't get in behind them often. Gladbach had more of the ball in the period when they scored. Right after that, we get the second yellow and the red card. We actually wanted to change the shape of the game by making a substitution during the break. As Gladbach were also playing with three in the middle, there were a lot of man for man battles. Once we went down to ten men, it was all over. In the second half, the boys did very well, defended everything and tried to win the ball."

Manuel Akanji: "It's hard when you're outnumbered for 50 minutes and chasing a deficit. We had to risk it again in the second half. But it was hard: when you take more risks going forward, the opposition can counter more often and you risk more one-on-one situations at the back. The team fought and tried everything. I really didn't understand the second yellow and the red card."

Ansgar Knauff: "We didn't find a lot of space going forward, so we lost the ball early time and time again. When you're playing with ten men for so long, it's hard to get back into the game from  behind." (br)
