Borussia's U19s still have every chance of progressing in the UEFA Youth League despite an unfortunate 3-2 defeat against Sporting CP. Mike Tullberg's team, however, must win their last group game against Besiktas on Tuesday 7 December at 14:00 CET to advance to the round of sixteen via the play-off round.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens gave the Black & Yellows the lead in Lisbon after a perfect switch and assist from Bradley Fink (22.). Sporting equalised in the 27th minute. Unfortunately for BVB, the referee then disallowed a goal by Bradley Fink after Tom Rothe was in an alleged offside position before providing the assist (40.).

In the second half, the Black & Yellows, who had to replace the injured Samuel Bamba, couldn't find their rhythm for a long time and fell behind in the 56th minute. As they pushed hard for an equaliser, the home side converted from a counterattack to make it 3-1 (81.). Bradley Fink scored in injury time to make it 3-2, but it was too late to force an equaliser and keep their chances of winning the group alive.

AFC Ajax now lead the table on 10 points, with Sporting CP in second (8) and BVB in third (7). The next opponents, Besiktas (3), have no chance of progressing. (wiwi)
