The Borussia Dortmund U17s consolidated their position in second place in the Bundesliga West with a 5-0 victory over Fortuna Köln.

Although coach Karsten Gorges had to make do without key players such as Paris Brunner, Raul König, Kjell Wätjen, Elias Benkara, Luke Rahmann and Charles Herrmann, BVB were able to completely dominate the game. Goalkeeper Gustav Aabro had very little to do. "We were very focused and aggressive in the way we played," said Gorges as he praised his team's performance.

BVB put the opposition under a lot of pressure, especially out wide. "The only things I can fault are our chance conversion and our poor execution of attacking set-pieces," said Gorges. In fact, the scoreline could have turned out a lot more one-sided in light of BVB's overwhelming superiority.

Alex Niziolek opened the scoring in the 13th minute and then added a second around the half-hour mark. Dustin Plöger then added another in the 39th minute to make it 3-0 going into the break. Things remained much the same after the interval, with BVB dominating proceedings and Köln struggling to keep pace. Jakob Zickler made it 4-0 in the 47th minute, then Köln's Agan Ljeza scored the final goal of the game when he unwittingly sent a Gökdeniz Gürpüz cross into the back of his own net. "We did really well overall against a tough opponent who will certainly pick up a few more points," commented Gorges.

A much more demanding task awaits the team next Sunday, when they will host third-placed Arminia Bielefeld, who are yet to lose a game this season.

BVB: Aabro – Rashidi, Adamczyk, Meiser (61, Sadeghi), Kabar – Plöger, Uka (70, Bäcker)– Zickler (61, Fleck), Gürpüz, Campbell – Niziolek (70, Kerlen).
