Borussia Dortmund are using the extended winter break to tweak certain aspects of match ticket sales to further optimise the process for the benefit of the fans. Following several constructive discussions with fan representatives and fan clubs, important decisions have been made in the area of ticketing in recent days.

BVB are always keen to obtain fan feedback on important issues that affect the fans of Borussia Dortmund. That is why on 7 November, all official fan clubs had the opportunity to give feedback on the match ticket sales process in an open fan council meeting. The fan council and the ticketing working group put together as part of the fan council had already been involved in the processes for months. The results of these discussions have now been incorporated into the final decisions.

We are pleased to announce the following changes:

  • From the second half of this season, single match tickets for home and away games will be sold exclusively via the online shop as, based on the experience gained from the first half of the season, BVB can largely dispense with the application and drawing process in advance of normal ticket sales.
  • Advance sales will always start at the same time, which will be 12:00 CET. As technical support is required from back-office employees, the advance sales process cannot and should not start on weekends or in evenings.
  • Optimal processes are being put in place to prepare the online shop to handle large volumes at certain times. That is why, among other things, a waiting room will be set up before the actual online ticket shop can be accessed.
    • BVB reserve the right to use the application and drawing process exclusively for special (top) games which are likely to generate excessive demand.
  • Tickets will continue to be made available exclusively in digital form. Printing out digital tickets at home is of course still possible, but this is still not necessary.
  • BVB would also like to respond to the wishes of many ticket collectors: during the second half of the season, several ticket machines will be set up at different entrance areas of the stadium (including in the away section), where fans can print "hard tickets" to keep as a memento. These tickets do not entitle you to admission – only digital tickets (or digital tickets printed at home) can be used for entry to the stadium.

At this point, we would like to point out once again that tickets are to be purchased exclusively through BVB and not through the "black market". Tickets that were not purchased via BVB can be placed  in the designated post boxes in the stadium after home matches or sent by email to zweitmarkt@bvb.de so that the ticket sellers can be traced. The official BVB secondary ticket market is available for ticket resales (for more information, click here).

Advance ticket sales for the home match against FC Augsburg (Sunday 22 January, kick-off 15:30 CET) will start at 12:00 CET on Tuesday 22 November. Club members can each purchase four tickets from the BVB ticket shop. Whether general ticket sales will follow is still to be announced.
