''leuchte auf'' supports fan club's commitment to the Children's Hospital in Datteln
The BVB foundation "leuchte auf" and the BVB fan club "Borussia Forever Lüdinghausen 1992" have supported the Children's Hospital in Datteln with donations.
For two decades now, the BVB fan club "Borussia Forever Lüdinghausen 1992" has supported the oncology department of the Vestisches Children's and Youth Hospital Datteln. In recent years, the "Paediatric Oncology and Haematology" department, where patients with blood and bone marrow diseases, cancers and coagulation disorders from infancy to adolescence are medically treated and cared for, has repeatedly been able to benefit from a donation of 1909 euros made at the end of each year. With the current donation, it is planned to provide toys and a "ward bicycle" for the up to 16 in-patients of the cancer ward. The project sponsor is the non-profit organisation Vestische Caritas-Kliniken GmbH.
The BVB Foundation "leuchte auf" honoured the fan club's engagement by pledging to double the donation made at the end of 2022. In addition, the members of the fan club are planning to organise a sports and exercise festival this year for all the children and young people treated by the paediatric oncology department.

Background
The Vestische Children's and Youth Hospital Datteln was founded in 1946, shortly after the end of the Second World War. The organisation was able to rescue many children from war-related hardship and save them from risk of starvation. Immediately after the clinic opened, it offered in-patient treatment for twelve patients at a time. In the meantime, more than 9,000 in-patients and 60,000 out-patients are treated by the clinic every year. The hospital now has about 250 inpatient treatment places in more than 20 medical specialties.
