After the game against Wolfsburg the Borussia Dortmund players and officials rued the missed chances, particularly the ones early in the second half. "Had we taken one of them after the break, the result would have gone our way," said Roman Weidenfeller, though he also noted that BVB "invited" Wolfsburg to win the game.

Nuri Sahin: "We failed to add a second goal after the break. We then brought Wolfsburg back in the game through two unfortunate situations which shouldn´t have happened. Today we made too many errors, both on an individual and a team level, and we were punished for them by Wolfsburg."

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: "We started the second half well and should have scored a second goal. Unfortunately, we failed to do so and Wolfsburg hit back ruthlessly. It´s a shame as we wanted to do well here after the defeat to Arsenal."

Roman Weidenfeller: "Had we taken our chances after the interval, the result would have gone our way. But it also must be said that we invited Wolfsburg to win the game. We gave away too many free-kicks and corners and were too careless"

Michael Zorc: "It´s very annoying that we didn´t get a penalty in stoppage time, especially as we had a similar incident in midweek against Arsenal. The crucial phase of the game came early in the second half when we had good chances we should have taken. We then conceded the equaliser out of the blue, and even fell behind. Wolfsburg then of course played with a lot of passion. This defeat hurts."

Hans-Joachim Watzke: "We needed some time in the first half to find a foot in the game. Marco then put us in front with a beautiful free-kick and after the break we had chances for a second goal that we unfortunately didn´t take. Wolfsburg then showed a lot of character and beat us in an open battle. It´s a small setback but we will use the international break to come out of it with renewed vigour."
