"Today a dream came true for me. I´ll take things as they come. I´m open for everything and just want to enjoy it," said Roman Weidenfeller at his first Germany press conference on Tuesday. The Dortmund goalkeeper could make his debut against Italy on Friday or against England on Tuesday as Manuel Neuer is set to start in goal in Milan.

"First we have the Italy game in front of us which we will start with Manuel Neuer, and then we have to wait and see," said Germany´s goalkeeping coach Andreas Köpke who still gave Roman Weidenfeller hope.

"This is our last chance to try something. Roman has been playing at a high-level for some time. We want to give him an opportunity to prove himself in the national team. He has absolutely deserved to be called up. When you look at his development, calling him up was only logical."

Weidenfeller said that he will put himself "completely in the service of the team. It would be a dream come true to feature. I´ve already achieved a lot in gaining the appreciation of the DFB coaching staff and the public."
