Borussia Dortmund will do everything in their power to ensure further progress in the Champions League when they host SC Napoli on Tuesday night (kick-off: 2045 CET). Jürgen Klopp declared himself up for the battle, saying: "We are highly motivated and will not be de-railed so easily from our confident way forward.“

The coach allowed his charges "just five minutes to feel sorry for themselves“ in the aftermath of Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich before he wanted all minds focussed on the task of winning the first of two games which will decide if BVB progress into the round of the last sixteen.

Klopp went on, "If we don’t win both games it is going to be hard, and Napoli will be of the same mind. “ Klopp anticipates the opponents pre-occupied with defence, especially as a draw will all but guarantee progress for the visitors. The situation is a little more complex for BVB with regards to progressing in the competition. Klopp confirmed that "we have looked up all the rules and regulations and all sorts of scenarios are possible. There is pressure. “ Ideally Borussia need to win, and by two clear goals and so, having managed just one in their last three games, Klopp hopes for a little more luck in front of goal, "I don’t care how they go in, as long as they do!“

At the back a clean sheet is order of the day. But yet again, the back four will show changes since Manuel Friedrich isn’t eligible to play. With Hummels and Neven Subotic out, Klopp will need to find a man to partner Sokratis, however he is calm: "We have a strong squad. Yes, we have had to shuffle things about a bit at the back recently, but we’ll just get on with it. “It is possible that Sven Bender could drop back to fill the void but that would mean splitting a blossoming defensive midfield partnership with Sahin. Other alternatives include the experienced Sebastian Kehl, who along with his calmness is also adept in the air, or perhaps even Koray Günter, despite having played just one minute in the Bundesliga. Klopp: "Kehl is an option, he could have started on Saturday but we didn’t want him to start two games back-to-back after being out for so long. So now we know that a fresh Sebastian Kehl is available to us and his experience may be very useful to us...“

It doesn’t really matter how, or why, BVB just have to win. The coach pledges that "we will give our all to ensure the game in Marseilles on December 11 is a form of play-off. It was said after the draw was made that we were in an exciting, tight group. And if things turn out as we hope, then it will remain the tightest, most exciting group on the last matchday, too! “
