In the first press conference of Borussia Dortmund’s training camp in La Manga, BVB chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke reaffirmed the club’s desire to continue to work with sporting director Michael Zorc.

“Michael has been doing a great job for BVB for many, many years. We talked again today and agreed to get together in January. This would be our first meeting, and there could be another one,” said Watzke with a mischievous smile, adding: “But I honestly don’t see any conflicts here. There’s probably just one question remaining: who of the two of us is going to quit earlier.”

Michael Zorc, whose current contract runs until 30 June 2016, played 463 games (131 goals) for Borussia Dortmund. After his playing career, he moved into the position of sporting director and had a key part in the club winning the Bundesliga titles in 2002, 2011 and 2012, the DFB Cup in 2012 as well as reaching the final of the Champions League in 2013.
