The draw against Augsburg felt like a defeat for Sebastian Kehl. In a post-game interview, the BVB skipper also talked about Jakub Blaszczykowski’s injury.

What’s your verdict on the draw against Augsburg?

It feels like a defeat. We wanted to do well, wanted to take all three points again. On the one hand, we had some very good spells. On the other hand, we made mistakes before both goals and again didn’t make the most of our chances. We knew that Augsburg are able to play some fine football. They showed their quality which is why this is a bitter draw for us.

You worked on a number of things during the winter break. What were you able to implement in the game?

We can’t be happy with that. We really wanted to win at home again, therefore we are very disappointed. We scored from set pieces, but that’s not so important now. We failed to dominate and play our game for the whole 90 minutes. We will have to look into the reasons, and we will need to do a lot better in Braunschweig as we need the points to stay in contention.

How did the team take the news of Jakub Blaszczykowski’s injury?

If the injury is confirmed to be a torn cruciate ligament, it would be a very bitter pill for both him and the team as he’s an incredibly important player.  The injury topped it off, and so this was not a great day for BVB.
