Borussia Dortmund’s Jakub Blaszczykowski has suffered, as feared, an anterior cruciate ligament damage in his right knee in Saturday’s home game against FC Augsburg.

Blaszczykowski’s injury was confirmed following a scan at the Knappschaft Hospital in Dortmund on Sunday. The Poland international will undergo surgery in the next few days. He said, “I'm not knocked off course easily. I will try everything I can to return stronger than ever!”

With a successful recovery, Blaszczykowski could return to training after the summer break  a success, according to BVB team doctor Markus Braun,
