The German National team successfully completed their preparations for the World Cup with a resounding 6-1 (0-0) win over Armenia in Mainz. The team contained four BVB players. Armenia’s consolation goal came from the spot from Mkhitaryan.

Roman Weidenfeller, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus started the game and, after 67 minutes Kevin Großkreutz joined the action and promptly committed the foul that led to Mkhitaryan converting past Weidenfeller to make it 1-1. Mats Hummels commented later that “it is always difficult when your opponents manage to run in on a back four unhindered.”

Schürrle had given Germany the lead on 52 minutes with further goals coming from Podolski (71), Höwedes (73), Klose (76) and a brace from Götze (82, 89 mins) to make it 6-1 at the final whistle.

Hummels: “Following the equaliser, we pretty much attacked from the off. We simply stepped up a gear in the second half.” (br)
